Default file and setting transfer wizzard

I bought me a new pc last week. For two days now I try to transfer the data
of the old pc to the new one, using the transfer wizzard. Since my new pc
doesn't have a flopy drive, I used the removable storage option and had all
the data from the old pc transferred to my external usb hard drive. After
connecting the hard drive to the new pc I tried to transfer by telling the
wizard that the data is on the removable hard drive. The wizzard keeps
telling me that there is no transferred data stored on the drive I named as
source. However, the data is actually there.
I have no idea what to do next. Any suggestions?
