Default New XP user doesn't want to default to MS Browser, products, etc.

I seem to recall a couple of years back reading a step by step article on
how to set-up/startup a new XP machine....without defaulting to all of the
MS products automatically.

Does anyone know of such an article?
(I'm not sure if the article was written by Simson Garfinkel or what....but,
of course, when I want it...I can't find it.)

Anyone know of a step-by-step article about how to start a new
machine....and not let it default to IE, OE, WMP, etc., etc.???

Thanks for your help!

Rob

Why worry you can reset to most anything you please, and I believe wmp is an
option

I don't know the "official way", but when I played with FireFox, and
when I played with Opera, I got a note, "___ Browser is not your
default browser. Would you like to make _____ your default browser?"

You set it ONCE, and until you wish to change it, the browser you
select at that time becomes your "default" browser.

How you AVOID that step, I don't know.

But it's always worked for me.
