Hi,
Why is it when I use a DOS boot disk I can only find the floppy drive and the DVD drive. The same if I use a W98 bootable CD. Next question: Where are the Registry files system.dat and so on in XPhome? Thnx, Taylor |

Windows XP is not based on the old MS-DOS platform,
hence there is no DOS to boot into. What feat are you trying to accomplish? -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Microsoft Community Newsgroups news://msnews.microsoft.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Taylor" wrote: | Hi, | | Why is it when I use a DOS boot disk I can | only find the floppy drive and the DVD | drive. But there is a NTFS file system driver that can be downloaded from www.sysinternals.com --- ntfsdos.exe. System.dat and related files can be found in the \winnt\repair folder. |

Holy Shi*! I gotta hand it to you. Now I can
boot to DOS and see all the drives and copy files and everything. Why does everybody else in the world say you can't do that with XP. Beacuse you *can't* do it with XP. However you *can* do it with third-party software, as many of us here have often pointed out. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup > "Ghostrider" <-00-@fitron.142> wrote in > message > news:uFkQgDNDGHA.1676@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... >> >> Taylor wrote: >> >>> Hi, >>> >>> Why is it when I use a DOS boot disk I >>> can only find the floppy drive and the >>> DVD drive.
