when in windows, or in an application like ie6, there doesn't seem to be a
way to set a default folder for saving files. In MS word for example one can set the default folder. Can this be done anywhere else too? Regards. Gavin |

Hi,
Right Click My Documents on the desktop, if you do not have a My Documents you can either customize the desktop to add My Documents " See Below" or Click Start Right Click My Documents, Select The Target TAB and change the default location. As you can see on the same TAB there is an option to Restore Default. To customize the desktop to view the My Documents Folder, Right Click the Desktop, Select Properties, Select Desktop, Select Customize Desktop, and put a tick in the box for My Documents. The disadvantage, depending on how you change the target, is you could lose easy access to My Pictures, My Music, My Webs etc? Is this how it can work out in practice? -- Regards. Changing the Default Folder location has no effect on the "Easy Access"
When you click apply you are asked if you want to transfer all the files within my documents accross to the new default folder. But you must ask yourself, is 1 default folder not the same as another? It is easy to redirect Word and Excel documents to a user created default location. I am not sure whether the same applies to the other system folders. Are you saying change the target setting for My Pictures etc will always work? -- Regards. The method I explained moves everything in "My Documents" to the new Default
Folder created, this then becomes the default folder for all Pictures, Music, Etc. You set the default folder options in Word, Excel etc from within the application. To set / change the default folder within windows use the method previously explained.
