1st,youre better off booting to xp cd,select install xp,new copy, delete the
partition, create one, then let xp format and install. This is a clean xp
installation,xp
doesnt need any ME files. But with xp installed as done, run disk-clean up
utility,
select all, then run, also, more options tab, locate"set restore to last
restore point".
Defrag the drive, you should also in add/remove programs, delete the ME files.
Then go to run, type:cmd In cmd type:CONVERT C: /FS:ntfs Agree then type:
EXIT Restart computer. When back in xp open cmd type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree,
exit, restart computer.Run disk clean up and defrag 2X more within min
operation.

Windows XP is a far more powerful operating system, which does much more
than Windows Me. All of those extras come at a price in performance.

If your hardware is capable enough, the performance difference may be
unnoticeable, but if it's not, it can be considerable.

What hardware do you have? In particular, make sure you have at least 256MB
of ROM.

How much RAM memory? Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and
click the Performance Tab. What is the Total, the Commit Charge and the
Peak?

You may check on pagefile (virtual memory) usage with Page File Monitor for
XP:
http://www.dougknox.com/

If you get anything much more than 20 / 30 mb virtual memory usage you
need to add RAM memory. The system uses virtual memory for a
limited number of tasks rather than RAM memory.

Make sure you study the readme.txt file carefully to ensure you get the
utility to work as it should.

Have you installed any "memory boosters" ?

How large is your hard drive? Is it partitioned? How much free space on each
drive / partition? How is the drive / partition formatted -FAT32 or NTFS? To
get this information, whilst in Windows Explorer, place the cursor on each
drive in turn, right click and select Properties.

Hope this helps.

Absolute gibberish and from what I can decipher wrong. It very likely has
nothing to do with it being a upgrade. Most likely it is a hardware issue.
