when i hibernate my computer it hibernates fine but when i switch it back on
it effectively switches user and sends me bcak to the logon page, i recently
added on automatic logon to my win xp sp2 computer and ever since then every
time i have hibernated my comp it has switched user and sent me back to the
logon page when i switched it back on!

There is an option under the power settings to 'Ask for pasword on resuming
from hibernation' this is most likely your trouble.

Or, you may need to set the ForceAutoLogon registry key.

Please don't post the same query multiple times. It's highly
irritating to take the trouble to post an answer in one newsgroup,
then read the next group and find you posted a separate copy and your
question has been answered.
