As soon as I put a blank CD-RW into my CDRW/DVD combo in my 1 year old Dell
compact computer, it makes this noise every second. "bumf churp, bumf churp, bumf churp". I think this is the first time I tried to burn a CD on this computer. I can look at data CD,s and play music. I just can't burn a CD. I've tried both the Sonic burning software that came with my computer and drag and drop thru DLA. I tried to format a disk, but 30 minutes into it, it sais format failed. Any suggestions Thanks |

I don't think my warrenty is still active because my computer is actually a year and 3 months old. I am going to try to locate the paper work to verify this. I posted this question in the Windows XP hardware section and was given this advice. "Chances are you need to return the drive for a new one. Other than that you can try removing upperfilters and lowerfilters and the likes? That's about all I can think of. The directions are here on this site: Missing CD/DVD Drives: http://kgiii.info/windows/XP/general...VD_drives.html Err... Pardon the name of the page and the link but that's USUALLY when people are wanting to delete the filters. Same process just a different name for you. " I know very little about fixing a PC, before I atempt this can you think of anything? Thanks.
