Default When I add a shortcut icon to the start menu, I have to re-boot Win XP

When I add a shortcut icon to the start menu, I have to re-boot Win XP in
order for the icon to show up in the start menu!! I think this might be
related to the computer company creating a User account in addition to the
account I created for myself (I am the only person using the computer). How
can I fix this so I don't have to reboot?

Thanks,

Jerry
