Default CD/DVD disk drive software drivers

I no longer have access to my d and e cd/dvd and dvd drives. The a floppy
disk drive is working. This occurred after one of two acts: removing a set
of programs, roxio creator 6 and 8, or removing files from my startup folder.

When I attempt to uninstall and install the disk drivers both give msgs that
the files may be corrupted and are not loading properly.
The computer will not successfully restore to a prior date.
I cannot load a software pack 2 because my computer already has been updated.
Since I have no drives I cannot download the drives from the XP disk.

This appears to be a general corruption since it was not limited to one
drive.

Is there anything that can be done to get me back to my drive?

Help

Andy
