Using XP Pro, I want to do Monthly Full backups and Weekly
Differential backups, appending the data to the tape in the drive and when it's full put in another tape. The admin user would not normally be logged in so they should start and operate in the background. I have read the help file for backup and cannot get it all to work properly. I have previously used Veritas Backup Exec on Win 98 and the XP version seems to be heavily based on that program. I added three tapes to the media pool, named "Office XP 1", 2, 3 I can successfuly run my Monthly backup manually. Backup reported "There is no free media available with the selected type, but the following media was found: "Media created on ....." Do you want to use this media now" I Answered yes and backup erased the tape (fine - I was happy for that to happen) Backup changes the name in the pool to "Media created ..." It backed up fined and exists on the tape However, when the scheduled backup starts it reports "Searching for the backup set. Please Wait.." I cancelled this after an hour of waiting. What else do I need to do? Also, once it is working how will I know when the backup tape is full and I need to put the next tape in the sequence in to continue the backup? -- Peter Crighton Email To: peter (at) p-cright.demon.co.uk |
