Default Free Windows XP Registry Cleaner

Hi

Do anyone know of any free Windows XP Registry Cleaners that do a great job
of cleaning out unwanted registry entries from the registry in Windows XP?

Please respond soon.

Thanks

Egan

I think people are posting this question again lately just to see how many
"Registry Cleaning is not something the novice should do" responses they can
solicit.

If you feel you HAVE to clean your registry..
Use ERUNT to back it up and CCLEANER to clean out the bad entries.

Egan registry cleaning is an exact science - get it wrong and your pc may
end up unbootable. However, one of the better free cleaners is CCleaner.
This also gives you the option to 'save' a copy of the registry files that
have been changed. Even though this is a goode general cleaner you still
need to take care. Personally, i take the same view as most MVPs' and that
is 'if you are not capable of editing the registry manually, then leave well
alone.'
The problem with registry cleaners is that CCleaner, for example, will clean
the rubbish out of your registry. Download another registry cleaner and run
it after CCleaner and it will tell you that a host of other files need
removing. All registry cleaning software use different methods. The result
is a lot of false positives which, frankly, is not very helpful.
