Recently I've been getting "This device will perform better if it were
plugged in to a USB 2.0 port" messages when I'm using: (a) USB 2.0 devices that have worked as 2.0 before; with (b) USB 2.0 cables that have worked as 2.0 before; plugged into (c) USB 2.0 ports that have been 2.0 since I bought the computer. How can I get my WinXP machine to go back to recognizing that it only has USB 2.0? |

Lance, disconnect all USB devices. Then rt click MyComputer>select
Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>USB Controllers. Expand and rt click on each one and choose Uninstall. Finally restart and let XP reinstall them. Reconnect the devices. Rich, thanks, but the problem persists after Windows restarts and reinstalls
the devices. When I click on the notice ("this device will perform better...") I'm shown a list of 6 USB ports when my computer only has two. In the device manager, I've got four USB Root Hubs and four controllers (only one "Enhanced"). --Lance "Rich Barry" wrote: > Lance, disconnect all USB devices.
