Hi,
I have a problem I think with my memory..I just reinstalled Windows XP, but when I run any multimedia based thing it runs very slowly (including interactive web pages, games, etc)...I have updated the system BIOS, and all drivers, including graphics card one. Also, I have 512 MB SDRAM, so this should not be happening. I downloaded a memory manager, and it said that I had free memory even when the computer was being very slow! Would this then be a problem with hardware(ie, memory card not in place)? Ive tried basically everything to get this to work, including reinstalling many times (so probably not software?) Any help would be great, thanks! |

Have you checked the size of the page file? It should be 2-3 times the
amount of RAM. Right click My Computer | Properties | Advanced | Performance Settings Button | Advanced Tab | Change Button, type in the values you want and click OK x 3. Uninstall the memory manager. They often become part of the problem.
Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring Task Manager and select the Performance Tab. What is the Commit Charge? What was the Peak? How large is your hard drive and how much free space does it have? If your hard drive is partitioned then details for each partition would be helpful. http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm -- Hope this helps.
