Look in the System and Application logs for Error and Warning reports at
about the time the problem arises and post copies here. You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important. HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winxp A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your message(email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer. Hope this helps. I had version 5..I uninstalled it because I didn't like it. Plus I was having
problems with it after I upgraded my PC to WinXP from Win2000. I got Nero Burning ROM with my CD-R/RW drive and installed that instead. Is that cdudf_XP driver leftover from the un-install? The early versions of Easy Creator 5 did not work well with Windows XP.
It is common if uninstalled for it to leave Registry entries. would download and install cCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp http://www.ccleaner.com/ Once you have installed cCleaner create a new System Restore point. http://bertk.mvps.org/html/createrp.html Next start cCleaner and select the Issues tab and check all boxes. Select scan and then check all boxes before the Issues identified and click on Fix. You can backup before fixing the issues. It will give information before implementing each fix study each so that you understand what it is proposing to do. If anything subsequently seems wrong you can always you use the System Restore point to put the Registry back to what it was before running cCleaner. Otherwise you need to proceed slowly with cCleaner. Try out bits at a time to see how it works and what it does. When all is done recheck your original problem. If it is not solved reboot the computer, retry Add Hardware and then look again for Error and Warning Reports in Event Viewer since rebooting. -- Hope this helps. I downloaded ccleaner and ran it..had it fix all the things it found...still
getting the warning about the cdudf_XP driver not loading...also my pc still restarts when running the Add Hardware wizard. I have another question, last week I noticed on the Display Properties->Settings it says Plug and Play Monitor on blah-blah graph. card. I have a Mag Innovision Monitor, I wanted to see about getting a driver for it, so I went to their website and downloaded the drivers and then tried to install it and Windows kept saying it could'nt do it . Could that be what is causing the problem with the Add Hardware wizard? Thanks for your help.
