I have a new laptop which I upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. I'm having the same
problem many have written about on this site - the system cannot hibernate
due to insufficient system resources. I noticed a post when I did a search on
Google about this suggesting that the problem could be due to an insufficient
cache size on the hard drive large enough for the computer to write all the
memory to before hibernating. Has anyone tried increasing the cache size to
fix this problem? If so, did it work?

(Forgive me if I'm using incorrect terminology. I'm a novice.)

the question could be : do you have 2 gig worth of free space on hard drive
for Hibernate file. Possibly contiguous space?

I have 50 GB of free space on my 70 GB drive. I am using XP Home SP2, and I
know that the reource allocation is a known issue with Microsoft.

Delete the current hiberfil.sys
and defrag hard drive.

Hard drive cache is fixed on hard drive. don't think it can be changed. some
have 2mb and some 8mb cache.

What does hiberfil.sys do? I'm always hesitant to delete files if I don't
know what they are.

it's the file that "Hibernate" creates!!
maybe corrupted. it will create a new one.
