I have spybot on my computer. Before running it I always check for updates.
It takes forever to download the updates, sometimes it just never quits and I have to cancel it. I never have this problem with ad-aware or anything else. I often run it now without checking for updates. When I used spybot a few years ago it never acted like this. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, but that didn't help. I have windows xp and plenty of Ram. Any ideas? |

Hi PattiChati,
If you haven't already done so, try having it download from an alternate site. When you open Spybot and then click on Search for Updates button, in the Updates window, to the right of the Search for Updates button in that window you should see the name of the site chosen for download along with a drop-down arrow. Click on the drop-down arrow and select an alternate site prior to clicking on the Download Updates button. See if you are able to find an alternate site that doesn't take forever to download the updates. Give Patti's suggestion a try. The servers for Spybot are busy it's a very popular program. -- Mike Pawlak |
