I have a second hard drive on my system and whenever I try to delete a file,
the file is automatically copied. I have scan this drive for viruses and worms but nothing has been found. What can I try next. This is filling up my hard drive with duplicate files. |

How are you deleteing the files? If you use 'drag-and-drop' it is possible to
accidentally 'drop' files from the source directory panel back to the same spot. This creates files with names like "Copy 1 of -whatever-" and Copy 2 of -whatever-". You don't mention it, but are the copied files appearing on the second drive when you are deleting from the first HD? A better way to delete is collect the files to delete (Alt or Shift - click) and then right-click on them and choose "Delete". Have you tried NoClone? It can remove duplicates by true byte-by-byte
comparison. It can search duplicate file contents regardless of file name. For details, http://noclone.net |
