I'm running XP (SP2), and my computer frequently restarts at random times.
On the next successful reboot(if it didn't restart at least twice, while
rebooting), I send a report to Microsoft. They say it's a device driver,
but can't provide a solution to the problem.

Can anyone tell me an easy way to find out which device driver is the
culprit, and what I should do to solve the problem.

Hi

Try this to see what the problem may be:

Right click on My Computer, select Properties and then the Advanced tab.
Click on Settings under Startup and Recovery and disable 'Automatically
restart'. Next time your PC reboots, you should see a Blue Screen. Could
you please post the Stop Code that accompanies that BSOD back here? With
that your problem could be isolated.

I suggest you Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should
help by allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click
on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
StartUp and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Enable automatic restart on system failure after you have captured /
copied and pasted the message in a further post here.

There will also be Error Reports in Event Viewer. Please post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XEB3D96AF, 0XEB607340, 0X00000000)
GBFSHook.SYS ADDRESS EB3D96AF base at EB3D9000, Datestamp 41C865FA

I believe that's a Symantec product. Is this info enough to solve the
problem?
What's the next step?

There are a number of reports bit no solutions in Google. What are
you doing in the period before the error occurs?

What Warning and Error Reports are in Event Viewer occurring about
the time when the problem arises.. Please post copies.
