How am I supposed to install the product when I always get this error message
while installing? Doesn't even matter which folder/drive I select. http://tinypic.com/i3tj0j.jpg |

When you install the software, you are given the drive and folder to select.
The default is: C:\program files Your previous version would be listed here: C:\program files\digital image. Apparently there is a conflict installing this new version when you select the same folder (or directory) where your older version is stored and you get the error message you submitted. You could uninstall the older application, but I would not do this first since you may still want to use it. Instead, create a new folder under your C:\ drive. During installation you will be given the option to browse to select a folder to install the new application in, instead of selecting the default, just browse to the new folder to select it and install there. I'll look into the issue and report any findings. I don't have an previous installation. I just bought the Wireless Optical
Desktop 5000 and got the software bundled with it. First install ever of any version of the program. And as I said, it doesn't matter where I try to install it, it just doesn't work. On my second computer (laptop) I get another error resulting in not being
able to install the software there either. I would provide a screenshot but my OS is in finnish and you would probably not uderstand the error meassage.. ![]() It complains about "not being able to use the Windows Installer because of Safe Mode or an unsuccessful installation of the Windows Installer. Please contact the support" |

Ok, fixed this issue myself by starting the Windows Installer service
manually, having it on manual, like I've always had it, doesn't work for this software apparently. This doesn't fix the initial issue on my desktop where the Wireless Desktop is installed though.. Resolved it myself now. This one goes to the Windows oddities instead of
blaiming Digital Image or the installer. ![]() My CD-RW drive usually has the drive letter R: assigned to it but after investigating the log outputs and various other stuff of the Digital Image installer I found out that it makes weird drive letter assumptions for some lines in the log. Having the installer trying to install to C:\ didn't really go as it should have apparently, found some weird lines containing F:\ aswell.. Not that it really explains the weird error message (first post) which has no logic in it. So I've been messing around with my driveletters here now and dismounted the F: drive, changed my cd drive from R: to W: and now it finally installs. ================================================== == "R2" wrote: > How am I supposed to install the product when I always get this error message > while installing?
