Default JPG files corrupted after Windows repair

I had SEVERAL problems with my system so i used repair from the cd to fix.
Now i have pictures of the family, in my pictures folder, that every software
i have to read JPG photos says, " the photo you are trying to view is there
but may be damaged or corrupt". I lost all my restore points , so cant
restore . I dont have the original pictures backed up (i know, bad idea .
I have tried to reformat, ran CHKDSK look for and attempt repair of bad
sectors. Nothing . Does anyone have any ideas that may be able to recover
these damaged JPG files, Please & thank you !

Inclined to think the JPEGs are probably OK, it's most likely the default
viewing-program that is faulty. It might also be that the associations have
been changed so that the file is being opened in an unsuitable program.

Try viewing them witha third-party app. IrfanView should be suitable, and
it's free.

If that answers the immediate need you might be happy to stick with
IrfanView, or if not then you need to find out what's wrong with Explorer's
image-vew controls.

Thank you for trying , but sadly IrfanView says "can not read header".
Unknown file format ! I don't think i't has anything to do with Explorer
Image View Controls. I have other pictures i can still see , just not the
ones taken with Digital Camera.
But as i said, "Thank You for Trying" ! Any other ideas would be greatly
appriciated.
