I'm a photographer with about 95 gigs of photo scans in My Pictures.
I must have dinked something: it takes about five minutes for the folder/thumbnail views to generate each and every time I go there. This is so bad I've started trying Picasa2 and ACDSEE to browse instead. In Folder Options, "Do not cache thumbnails" is UNchecked. I think I need to go into the registry and change a value, yes? I looked, in Explorer for a thumbnail file in My Pictures and there isn't one. help? TIA www.kevinbreak.com |

OK, I'm reading around and I've just changed the default viewer to Windows
photo and fax viewer... ![]() and I'm running MCE2005 with 2 gigs RAM, and Explorer used to just *fling those thumbnails up. What did I b0rk? |

OK, so I ran a search in My Pictures for "thumbs.db" and found one file in
one folder, and there are very many. How can I tell XP to go ahead and make thumbs.db all the time? |
