Default RE: Camera Connected

I had a similar problem with an Olympus camera connected to a networked PC.
When I connected the camera to my PC with the USB cable the PC didn't open up
the camera wizard or say "New Hardware Detected". However, the PC knew that
something was connected as the new hardware sound was played when the camera
was connected. This was confirmed by using the "Safely Remove Hardware"
function. The camera was listed here as a removeable drive (F) but under
Windows Explorer drive F was my conection to my company's network. Here's the
conflict I thought.

The solution was to use windows Explorer/ My computer to view all network
connections. Then to use the Tools/ Map Network Drive function to assign my
company's network to a different drive letter. Then, still in Explorer, I
highlighted Drive F and used "File/ Delete" to remove it. I connected the
camera in the normal way with the USB cable and hey-presto the PC now
recognised it, bringing up the "Found New Hardware" window.

This will probably only apply to a few cases but as it was driving me mental
I thought I'd share.
