Default Thumbnails small in Explorer. Why?

Recently, many of the thumbnails are smaller than usual. When I right click
and select, refresh, then they are returned to normal size.

What can I do so they will stay normal size? So I don't have to refresh
everytime I open Windows Explorer?

In the past, this did not occur.

Tippy..........

Maybe doing some maintenance would help.
Might be worth a try to run Disk Cleanup, Error
Checking and Defrag.

(310312) Description of the Disk Cleanup
Tool in Windows XP

(315265) How to Perform Disk Error Checking
in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315265
(check the two boxes..."Automatically fix file
system errors" and "Scan for and attempt
recovery of bad sectors") the utility will run
the next time you restart your computer.
(run error checking repeatedly until it finds
no errors)

Drive Volumes in Windows XP

Also...if you download and install TweakUI
from the following site...you can adjust the
size and quality of your thumbnails.

Windows XP PowerToys / free download
http://tinyurl.com/36n
(download the one that says:
TweakUI.exe 147 KB)

Once you have TweakUI installed, open
it and go to...Explorer / Thumbnails...
Drag the slider to adjust the quality and
enter a number to adjust the pixel size
of your thumbs.

Thank you. I have recently reinstalled WinXP, I defrag weekly if not oftener.
I cleanup disk several times a week. I run Scandisk....................

Have downloaded TweakUI and set it for larger thumbnail.

In other words, I already did everything you suggested. I teach computer
classes, so I normally am very thorough and timely with maintenance.

That is why this problem has puzzled me. Never before in all the years that
Windows has been OS has this problem occurred.

So looking for some answers.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not that smart...I was just guessing, sounds
like you already tried everything.

More guesses:

Could it be a problem with your thumbs.db files?

Have you tried increasing your folder customizations?

Would it help to re-register shimgvw.dll?

Could it be a corrupted user account?
