says "the directory or file cannot be created" I have an external hard drive. I have a file named x say, and the other file name y. I have pics in y and I want to move them to x. Well x file has about 29850 pics already in them. Is that a facor??? I know that I have pleanty of hard drive space that is not an issue. There has to be a way to override that error message. Fat folders can have a max of 64K filenames. However long filenames take up multiple entries.

And Fat16 format allows very few files in the root directory.

No the issue is not resolved. I am still getting the error message saying
that path or file cannot be located. I am trying to move a file that has a picture to another file that has pictures. I need to figure out how to get rid of that error message. Have you tried organizing the files on the external drive in folders or do you have all 29850 files in the root directory? How much free space is available on the external drive? -- John Inzer MS Picture It! MVP How to ask a newsgroup question: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 |

Eric
Would help trouble-shooting if you get the syntax correct also. The picture is a "file". You are trying to put it into a "folder" that has other picture "files".
