Hi-I realize that everyone has an opinion on this topic but if I could get a
simple response it would be appreciated.
I have a nice PC & a nice Canon digital camera. I love to play around
with the editing of various photos. Nothing fancy, just contrast, clarity,
color, etc. so that I can get the nicest looking pic that I can. I've
experimented with a lot of software-Corel Paint X, Picture It 10, Gimp, and
many others. I have an old Jasco Paint Shop Pro 7 I got for free when
purchasing a new PC several years ago. I like the program. Some of it is a
bit, too complex for my taste but it seems to do a good job-esp. getting rid
of, not red-eye but, white flash eye.(?)
What do you all htink of this program & am I really missing out by not
having something more current?

I use Adobe Photoshop 5, which is so old now that I am sure there are free
copies about. It will do almost everything I want to do with photos. For the
rest, I use Compupic 6, but I have had a look at Picasa2 and FastStone which
are Image viewers that do a lot more than just view and are free. For
arranging any combination of pictures and text for adverts, cards, fliers or
any design for printing out I find Textease to be the best program of all.
Do some Google searches for these and see what you come up with.

As you have discovered, there are many
image editing programs available and unless
you require features that are not available in
your current favorite, I can see no compelling
reason to change. One good thing about
PSP7 is there are lots of tutorials availble
on the net.

If you enjoy trying new software...
Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition 2006
is a downloadable 60 day trial version with
much of the functionality of MS Digital Image
Suite 2006.

Once your 60 day trial period has ended, the
program will de-feature to minimal functionality.

Unlike the retail version...the trial does not
have the ability to create VCDs and does
not support RAW files.
