Can anybody help please? 'My Pictures' is giving me problems, only recently.
I can not open any pictures in this folder or anywhere else for that matter. The folder attribute says it was 'Hidden'. Don't know how that happened but I unhid it and the icons are there with the picture size but they do not display what the picture is and still won't open. I have no viruses on the pc. How do I change the pictures to be able to open them please? Tried restore and that didn't work |

How do > I change the pictures to be able to open them please? > Tried restore and that didn't work =============================== I guess you are saying you cannot open the images in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer? Can you open them in your editing software? Have the file names changed in any way? Try the following and see if it makes any improvement: Go to...Start / Run and type: "REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL" (without the quotes)(Yes, there's a space between 2 and S) Click...OK. A dialog box should report the following: "DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded" -- John Inzer MS Picture It! MVP How to ask a newsgroup question: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 |

I have the same issue, this just started happening. I tried to go back a
month using the windows restore feautre, no change. Then I did has you suggested John, That did not work either. All my .jpg pictures are unopenable, even if I copy it to a disk and try on another PC. I also tried this command found in a MS Solution: regsvr32.exe /i shdocvw.dll, I still cannot retrieve my pictures. Any other suggestions? I really appreciate the assistance with this. Saying, "I have the same issue." can get confusing. Have your file names changed in any way? Anyway...try running a full system virus scan using the most recent definitions. -- John Inzer MS Picture It! MVP How to ask a newsgroup question: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 |

Hi John, Yes, I have done a full system scan, I have found that I can open
pictures now from my CD drive after running the command you gave, but those on the hard drive any pictures that have the sunset with sailboat as the thumbnail, when I try to click on them to view it says "No Preview Available" "John Inzer" wrote: > DJ wrote: > > I have the same issue, this just started happening.
