May be wrong but don't believe new retail Epson inkjet
printers come with starter cartridges. HP does and
buying HP's regular cartridges 1-2 months after acquisition
makes already expensive HP printers even more expensive.

Don't be too happy about owning an Epson. Epson has a very serious
clogging problem with many of the inkjet printers it has produced in the
last two years. I replaced all four of my Epson CX4600 cartridges on
11/27/05 and the printer now only produces blank pages. Epson was
not forthcoming (recommended I replace all four NEW cartridges with
four newer cartridges (What whores!)) and run print head cleaning five
times. That drained 50% of my ink from new cartridges.

Researching the Net last night revealed that many Epson models have
clogging problem and/or the print head pressures build up in printer and
blows off little feed hoses on the print head assemblies.

If your Epson printer hasn't clogged, it will. It seems to happen most
frequently after user replaces all four cartridges for the first time (my
case) or after the printer reaches eight months of age. Also my case.

My Epson is under warranty and I'm going to demand a replacement
tomorrow.
