Hello
This is what a friend said but as far as I can remember and see by using the CD, the installation of IE is optional (although it may well be ticked for installation by default) I didn't install it but now it won't seem to install. I am going to try to download the latest version to see if that helps. Access to it can be removed, but IE has to be there; it's part of Windows. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup. It won't. IE is installed by default but it might not be /available/ currently: Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Compents > Internet Explorer (check if unchecked) Again, I'm not sure this has anything to do with your printer installation problem. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), AH-VSOP Dave Neve wrote: > This is what a friend said but as far as I can remember and see by using > the CD, the installation of IE is optional (although it may well be > ticked for installation by default) > > I didn't install it but now it won't seem to install. > > I am going to try to download the latest version to see if that helps. > > "PA Bear" <PABearMVP@gmail.com> a écrit dans le message de news: > OxbmNOV6FHA.808@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... > > If WinXP is installed, IE6 SP1 is already installed by default. > > > > > This computer is not linked to the NET and the only reason I need to > > > install IE is because I have error 0x80040705 when trying to install a > > > printer/scanner. > > > > Post the complete error message. > > > > WinXP Print/Fax-specific newsgroup: > > news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...wsxp.print_fax, to > > which I'm crossposting this reply. > > -- > > Dave Neve wrote: > > > Installing IE shouldn't be difficult but I am confused. > > > > > > I have an "emergency" computer and yes , you've guessed it, I have an > > > emergency. > > > > > > This computer is not linked to the NET and the only reason I need to > > > install IE is because I have error 0x80040705 when trying to install a > > > printer/scanner. > > > > > > Apparently, the error is due to a missing registry entry concerning > > > htlm.
