When trying to install printer driver to CanoniP4000 printer, about 50% of
files are installed then a popup: "AddPrinterDriver Error. The specified module can not be found" Required to click OK and last popup states that driver failed to install. I then attempted to reinstall the driver from CD that accompanied the printer. Same results. Then I attempted to install another printer with same results. XP drivers permit the printers to work...I just can't download and install a newer driver. Canon says it is a system problem. I have a Dell 4600 with XPHE and SP2. Any clues as to how and where I can retrieve the missing module to allow me to install printer drivers. Thanks! |

Are you logged on as an Administrator? Did you install the software BEFORE
connecting the printer to the PC? -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging "Cbuck from 10AhCee" <Cbuck from 10AhCee@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6A051596-E9B1-4143-B755-B02705D502D5@microsoft.com... > When trying to install printer driver to CanoniP4000 printer, about 50% of > files are installed then a popup: "AddPrinterDriver Error. Administrator - yes. I'm the only one and I bootup as Administrator.
This was not an attempt to install a new printer for it was setup and running OK. When installing a new printer, the procedures require you to have printer connected but TURNED OFF when installing the driver. At some point in time during installation it would tell you to turn on the printer so that software could find the printer port. That's no problem. This was a downloaded driver from Canon for the iP4000. I had removed the old driver according to their instructions and had begun installing the new downloaded driver. During the process, the AddPrinterDriver error appears stating that it can't find that module. I then went through the process of removing printer and attempting reinstall via the CD that came with the printer. Same thing occurs. I setup an entirely different printer (S630) and folg new setup procedures, began the process. Again, the driver gets about half of it's files installed and then this error appears. I have run sfc /scannow with no associated problems. I went into Services and noted that Print Spooler is active/started. So it appears to be a "Case of the Missing Module". Thanks!
