Default Printer skips back and reprints multiple pages

When printing to a high speed envelope printer (Rena 612) using Rena's
JetMate program, it will skip back any number of addresses and reprint them.
It happens sporadically sometimes every day or maybe once a week, and can
occur at any point in the spool. I can not duplicate the problem, it just
happens regardless of which programs are running or after a fresh boot. It
happens regardless of which data file is used. The only way to catch this
error is watching each sequential address printed, or after running short of
material due to the reprints (which can number anywhere from 50 to 800+
addresses). Note that this problem occured only after building a new computer
with WinXP Pro. The previous computer was Win98SE with the same programs.

Skipping back would imply that a data pointer is not incrementing properly.
Usually, this points to the application program.

Thanks Chuck, That does seem logical. It is odd that the problem is so
sporadic and unpredicatble (so far). It may happen 2-3 times in a single
print job or may not happen for 10 or more jobs of different number of
sources and records printed. There never was a problem with the program in
Win988SE so I was unsure where the fault lies. There have not been any
"hiccups" with the other programs I use.

Well the skipping back has occured with another program. This time while
doing a mail merge using MS Word and Excel from Office 2003. The printer was
a Ricoh551 on another WinXP machine through a peer to peer network. It
skipped back over 3800 records out of almost 4800, right to the first record.

The printer did print a partial page with the letter copy then a page with
some info:

ERROR: syntaxerror
OFFENDING COMMAND: ( a half line of standard text from the letter ...)

STACK:

then re-started printing from record one. This is starting to seem more like
a glitch with the WinXP spooler.
