I have a new XP with MS fax installed. I have a US Robotics 56L PIC. When I
create a fax and use the wizard to send it I hear the telephone tone and the scream; the monitor display comes on and indicates the length of time involved. When the fax has been completed there is a musical sound and a verbal indication that the fax has been sent successfully. The fax is then stored in the "sent" folder. However, nothing gets to the other end. (I am testing by sending to a large office from which I am semi-retired.) |

That's a little hard to believe, since XP Fax will not send at all unless it
hears CNG tones coming from a Fax device on the other end of the phone line. How have you determined that "nothing gets to the other end"? Again, XP Fax will NOT sent unless it has a Fax device to talk to. Do the
folks at your office get an error printout of some sort when you try to send? The only other way this could happen would be if you had another Fax device connected to the same phone line as the computer you're using to send; SOMETHING has to be producing CNG tones. I have been sending them to colleagues at the office where I worked for 30
years and for which I still do contract work. I have visited the fax room there and confirmed that a fax I had sent was not there.
