Users have Win XP, I have a Xerox WorkCentre XD120f printer set in a network.
No problems here. Users print regular documents using tray 1 (no problem here). However, users will be printing "special" reports once in a while, these reports will be printed using tray 2. Printer is set to print from tray 1 by default, users can go to the printer properties dialog box and change the tray to number 2, after they print they have to change it back to tray 1. My users are not very sharp and they tend to "forget" to change the trays everytime they print, printing is chaos... Question: Can I set the same printer with two different configurations or names? let say Xerox 1 (print from tray 1) and Xerox 2 (print from tray 2)? Windows allows me only one printer config. Thank you for your help. (xerox did not provide any!) |

Yes create two printers pointing to the same network port. You may still
have users pointing to the wrong printer since most applications retain the last printer used until restarting the application. -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
