Default Incomplete Print XP / HP PSC950

Scenario is Windows XP w/SP2, new PC, clean install, HP PSC 950.

When opening, for example, the 'My Pictures' folder and then printing
through the Windows Printer & Fax viewer, following the wizard and selecting
4 pictures, then selecting a layout of the 4 prints on the same page. So I
would end up with 4 pictures in portrait orientation on an A4 page
(obviously the wizard resizes them to fit).

Now what I get is the first 2 pictures printing correctly and nicely spaced,
then the remaining 2 pictures start to print and then get about half way
through and out comes the A4 page as if the print job completed correctly.
But about half of the last two pictures is missing, and the page has been
printed 2/3 to 3/4 in total, so I have some incomplete pictures and a
massive blank space at the bottom of the sheet.

ALL the printer options are on default, straight out of the box.

I can reapeat exactly the same procedure with a clean install of XP, latest
driver for any of my Epson A4 printers and they all print perfectly as I
would expect.

The HP is now connected to a new XP machine, but this behaviour was the same
when on a Win ME machine, so it doesn't look OS specific.

I suppose I could mess around with the printer settings, but using the XP
printing wizard, should I have to?

Thanks

SC
