Semi-Invisible Printing

Sometimes my printer produces printed output and sometimes it doesn't. It
always goes through the mechanics and sounds of printing. I can print a test
page, an email, a scan from my scanner and reports from Microsoft Money but I
can not get anything from Notepad or Word.

I have removed and reinstalled the driver and went through the print head
cleaning cycle. I have an HP722c. Does anyone have any idea? I tried the HP
support center but got little satisfaction.
