When Adding a new printer in our office, which has 4 comps on a router, we
always get a message that the name is wrong or the printer is disconnected. The main pc can use the printer, and we are pretty sure it has sharing set up correctly. it's a mini Mac. (the ones that want to share are a 2000 and 2 XPs) after add printer, network, Browse, it finds the Printer, and we have tried every combination of typing in the name that shows up, and the name of the printer hp Laserjet 1012 ,,,\\ and // in front, but nothing works... the Help said 'Configure an SMB Network' someone said we should be able to just click on the icon that Browse finds, but an hourglass pops up for second then goes away... |

this might work, but itcame to Box that needed a user name and PW? After Add a printer / network / URL (as you suggested) / then a box pops up with the Comp name asking for user name and password... We don't know if it's user name for for the mac , or my XP pc? either way we don't know what our user names and PW are??? If it comes up after, then it's asking for the UserName and PW of the
