I posted this in another thread and got no responses. Maybe someone here can
help. I have two Dell computers using Windows XP Professional attached to two Dell printers using a USB port. The two computers are on a Windows 2000 Domain Server network and I don't want to use the Print Server function. I want to share the printer on one computer with the other computer. Computer A with Printer Aand Computer B with Printer B. I want to share Printer B with Computer A. The printers show up when I click on "Add a Printer" and they can apparently connect. When I send a print (job) from Computer A it is listed in the Printer B print Queue with the total print size listed but only about 4 bytes of data are recieved. The only way to remove the print job from the queue is to restart the computer. Then the entire print job is printed. Why can't I send a complete print to the printer and then get it to print the job? Is there some way to print the "stuck" job without restarting the computer? There is a Firewall but it is on the Gateway and not on the computers. How do I share the printers? |

Cari, I think I have done everthing in your post. You will notice in my post that the printer on one can be attached to the other computer. It actually rececives part of the file but never prints it. It does show the actual size of the file that was to be sent but only a few bytes of the file are received and it never begins printing. Cari, a little more about the problem. The file goes from one computer to
the other but never prints. I try to delete it and it says it is deleting but it never does go away. The only way to get it out of the way is to reboot the computer to which the printer is attached. Then of course it prints. It doesn't seem like it is a time out of the USB port but I will check that possibility. It seems more like the end of file doesn't evr get sent. I have tried everything I know and still nothing works. I think it is something simple but I haven't found it yet. I still need lots of help.
