Hi,
In case anyone else was having this issue, it was caused by the Data Execution Prevention mechanism (DEP). The resolution was to add the printer driver to the list of exceptions. And how do you add the printer driver to the exceptions file?

Hi,
Select 'Start' ant then 'Control Panel'. Open the System icon and click on the 'Advanced' tab. Then select 'Performance' (why did they pick the Performance Tab?) and the 'Data Execution Prevention' tab. This can have two settings with the first one for essential windows programs and services. If you are running with this option then you should be OK and will not have to add the driver file. However if you have selected the second option and are having problems printing (System Error) then you will need to press the Add button and add in the driver file. This is unbelievable ... just started having this "system error" problem
today. I have xp, hp deskjet 6540 and was working in printshop. I am able to print out of all other programs including printshop, just not the one document I actually want. Any ideas or help out there?? Happy Holidays to all. bmass "andy1963" wrote: > Hi, > > Select 'Start' ant then 'Control Panel'. Open the System icon and click on > the 'Advanced' tab. I went to the HP website and upgraded my printer drivers. Not just remove and
reinstall the old driver. Now I have no more system error problem, so far.
