Default hp 5150 printer

my printer turns on automatically when i log on xp. And I can't turn it off.
Any suggestions?

Partially by design.. pressing the green power button will turn it off until
such time as an application requires it and the printer turns back on..

Mike, thanks for your reply; however pressing the green button does not turn
off printer. It remains on. Also the printer assistant does not work very
well.

Try uninstalling the printer, and then go through the installation process
again.. if that doesn't correct it, you may have a physical problem with the
printer itself..
