Default Print spooler not releasing print job for minutes after doc prints

I have the same problem as "PROBLEM ONE" described in another post in this
discussion group titled, “Help! HP Photosmart 2610 - Print Queue/Event ID
6161 problem”:

“The first problem was that when I printed something, the print job would
remain in the queue for about 5 minutes before disappearing and letting the
next job print.”

System is very similar setup: Windows XP (SP1) with network connected
(through router that also includes networked cable modem) HP2610xi all in one
printer. I worked with HP support to reinstall printer. This did not fix
problem. I can stop/start the print spooler service, and reboot. This seems
to fix the problem, but only for that session. The problem reoccurs with
subsequent sessions (the next time I restart). I don't want to have to
stop/start service whenever turning on my machine to ensure that the spooler
releases jobs timely.

I am having a similiar problem with my computer. How were you able to turn
your printer spooler service on and off? If i could do this, i think it
might solve my problem.

I found the answer to my issue after reading another post that directed me to
do more research on bidirectional printing.

I found this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;208820

As article suggested, I turned off bidirectional printing for my networked
HP printer, and problem solved.
