I just got a new Dell optiplex gx620 with Windows xp sp2. I previously used
an optiplex with Windows 2000 with the fax service to print incoming faxes on the default pringer (LJ 1200). I've had nothing but trouble with the new pc and xp. I have an external usb US Robotics 5633 modem. About 1/2 of incoming faxes fail with event id 32092 "The Fax service failed to receive a fax. From: . CallerId: . To: Fax. Pages: 0. Device Name: U.S. Robotics 56K Faxmodem USB." The faxes that are received successfully crash Windows. It restarts when the fax is received. The system event log has an event 1001 Save Dump with this info: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000008e (0xc0000005, 0x804eceb2, 0xa8578bfc, 0x00000000) The only way I have managed to stop this is to disable the fax service and use a 3rd party program (PhoneTools, which came with the modem). It's clunky but it works. Any suggestions anyone has on the fax service crash issue would be appreciated. |
