That being the case, Windows should support it.. unfortunately you will not
get all of the printer control panel.. have you checked in Control Panel - Printers? -- Mike Hall MVP - Windows Shell/User "Bob The ASP Builder" <boj@isplanket.com> wrote in message news:q2b0r11drnb88njnm7kqfjs2urttpispbg@4ax.com... > > Thank you Mike - but I've been down that lane quite a few times and > there ARE NO DRIVERS TO DOWNLOAD!!!!!! > > The problem is tha i dont get a list of printers when I try to install > the printer any more - how do i get a printer list to occur in the > printer installation process?? > On Mon, 26 Dec 2005 09:39:49 -0500, "Mike Hall \(MS-MVP\)" > <mikehalll@mvps.org> wrote: > >>http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...cc =us&os=228 > |

Is there anybody that can understand what I need?
Mikes answer tells me to check the Control Panel - Printers. when in fact my entire question is about an installation process starting in the Control Panel - Printers, in the first place. And - yes - Windows XP does in deed support the printer but that doesnt help much since the list of supported printers to choose from does not show up and that being my entire problem. When this list is not visible - what can I do to get it back?????? What file generates this list for example - is that file in that case possible to find?? Then maybe your printer is not communicating with the computer.. try
attaching the printer to another computer.. or try a different cable.. are you using the USB or parallel hook up?.. it's been a while since I used an 895cxi printer.. -- Mike Hall MVP - Windows Shell/User "Bob The ASP Builder" <boj@isplanket.com> wrote in message news:roo1r1toh5fcl2ludos6ic6oiqnptnrb0e@4ax.com... > > The printer spooler is in deed started > > On Mon, 26 Dec 2005 13:51:52 -0800, "Cari \(MS-MVP\)" > <Newsgroups1@coribright.com> wrote: > >>Start the print spooler... >> >>http://www.coribright.com/windows/Article%20Nine.htm > |

It would appear that I, too am having the same sort of problem.
The print spooler is running. I have run SFC/scannow. When I go into "Printers and Faxes" (through the Control Panel), the list of printers is blank. When I click on "Add a Printer", nothing happens. I am running XP (Home) SP 2. I have 3 printers registered on my PC and 1 still connected. I have no problem printing to it from Word or any other app. The printers show up fine there but "Printers and Faxes" does not show the list and will not launch the "Add a Printer" wizard. How can I get that wizard to work? How can I get it to show the printers that are working on the PC? |
