Local Area Connection - Unplugged

I tried to add a a Linksys print server to my Linksys Broadband Router.
However it doesn't work. I called Linksys and they tell that because my
Local Area Connection 2 indicates that my network cable is unplugged. With
their help I plugged in a network cable, but it doesn't change the
"unplugged" message. Linksys support says that it is a bad cable. I've
changed out the cables and still get the same thing. What should I do next?

What are the models of your router and printer server? I'll try to
find something in the manuals.

I also have a LinkSys router. I am trying to use outlook for sending faxes
and I don't quite know how to tell the fax option to use the router and not
to expect a dial tone for dialing. What should I do?

A conventional analog fax modem handles fax, not a router and a cable modem.
A DSL line would need a "filter" and an analog fax modem

A few of the multifunction units with LAN cabability can act as a fax if the
software suppled with the unit has this set of features. HP, Brother, and
others offer all in ones with the network fax feature, using the analog
modem built into the all in one unit.
