When you hit PrtSc, it sends a copy of the screen to the clipboard, NOT to
the printer. You must then open Paint (or other graphics program), paste in the image and then use File, Print or the Printer icon from the Toolbar. Same as it's always been in Windows. Of course DOS was different, but DOS has been dead 11 years. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "August Binder" <gh12yw86qa@aol.com> wrote in message news:OnLKWlMDGHA.3748@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > Unable to print subject file using Prt Scrn. Thanks Cari,
Of course, it appears to me that this is not workable for the need or is severley cumbersome. In booting xp to System Setup, to print the contents of the clipboard would require a reboot to xp, thereby losing clipboard contents: I could be mistaken. On the second point, i.e., the cumbersomeness (?), were one able to print using Paint while in Setup, and I do not see how, would probably require more clicks than it would be worth the avoidance of Handwritten notes. However, this novice defers graciously to you. Regards, August. The change occurred because windows generally uses a grapic interface. The
dos method did not. In addition, many of the current printers wil not directly print ASCII text. In any event, there are various third party printscreen utilities that may or may not do exactly what you desire.
