I've posted this question on an HP forum, but thought I'd check here also.
I have an HP 3310 "all in one" printer, which has built-in wireless networking. I set it up so it is on my wireless network - it gets an IP address, I can ping it, the printer status page shows signal strength of "5" (the max). Then I installed the HP driver and software on a XP SP2 (fully patched) system. The installer creates several exceptions in the Windows firewall for various HP executable files. When I print to the printer (from Notepad or Word for example), it takes almost exactly 3 minutes before the document prints on the printer. Not big documents either - open Notepad, type "This is a test" and File/Print. If I turn off the Windows Firewall, it prints immediately. Turn it back on and I have to wait 3 minutes before anything prints. I also tried adding exceptions to the firewall for the printer's IP address (TCP, port 9100, and UDP). No change. Any idea what might cause this? |
