Default Network Printing...

My situation is like this:

My laptop is linked to 2 networks, 1 plugged in network for my workplace and
1 wireless network at home. It has always been slow when i tried to print
through network printing (meaning it takes around 20sec just to process a
simple page), that's when it gets through. Nowadays i've been surviving
through opening the file and print from another network terminal. All other
terminal in my office are working fine with the common network printer (Ricoh
Aficio 2232C), and the terminals various between OS of winXP and win98 (Jap
version or Eng version). Do find it really ununderstandable, since mine is
the newest com, with winXP SP2 upgraded to SP3, yet just a simple printing to
the network printer is unable to perform properly. (Note: my home printer is
HP deskjet 3740 series)

Latest driver from the Ricoh official website had been updated but the
problem persist. This applies to any program printing, thus i can conclude
the problem lies with winXP. An occassion, while solving the installation of
Office 2003 (refer to your article 820930 in Help and Support - "Installation
source has been corrupted" error message when you install Office 2003), the
printing service was NORMAL then after updating the XML Parsar. Not too sure
if that was just a coincident, since the problem returns after i restarted
the com.

Please teach me how could i resolve this problem, it been months of
inconvenience. Thanks.

Default RE: Network Printing...

Just an add-on: The Ricoh Aficio 2232C at my workplace does support scanning,
and it has been working perfectly after i installed the Twain driver for the
same Ricoh website.

I'm not sure I fully understand.... Windows XP is only at SP2 level, not
SP3. Which printer seems to have the delay in the printing starting.......
both networks, or just the domain one at the workplace.

It's probably trying (and eventually succeeding) to negotiate the
firewall(s) at your place of work. Plus it's a network printer, so the data
has to be routed through the various hubs, switches, routers etc but at home
it goes straight from PC to printer.
