Default Fax problem 101

I recently switched from dial up to cable. The Fax says they can't get a
dial tone. The option box only lists dial up as an option. How do I fix this
so I can fax. I need it in small words cause I aint too bright!

Reconnect the telephone line to your modem, just like you did when you used
dial-up. Just make sure that [in MS Internet Explorer] your Tools --> Internet
Options --> Connections tab is set to "Never dial a connection."

Does this mean that one can't send or receive faxes on broadband?

Sorry, got the answer in the Google archive of this newsgroup. Sorry to
trouble everyone, I should have looked there first.

(For anyone else who didn't know, the answer is "No, you can't fax via
broadband"!)

You can send faxes via broadband, however, doing so requires an Internet Fax
service:
