I just purchased new Dell printer for use with three year old Dell computer
and need to install Windows XP fax services. From the add/remove I clicked on add/remove windows components, checked box for fax services, clicked on next. I get message the "The file fxscfgwz.dll on windows XP Home edition CD ROM is needed". I have the "reinstallation CD" for Windows XP. I put in the file path D:\fxscfgwz.dll inserted CD and clicked on ok. I get message "Setup cannot copy the file fxscfgwz.dll". what am I doing wrong? How can I get the fax services installed? I am fairly new to computing, so easy to follow answers please!! |

The new printer is unrelated to Windows XP fax service. The Windows XP fax, when installed, becomes a printer within its own right. The file for which you are looking is not in the root folder of the Windows XP CD-ROM. Do a search of the CD to locate the file. It is most likely compressed. Your reinstallation CD is an image rather than individual files. Usually OEM computers have a folder under Windows called \Options\CABS which contains the Windows XP files in case you want to install a component not already installed by the computer manufacturer. -- Earl F.
