Printer won't print

Just upgraded from Me to XP Home on my Dell Dimension 8100. My HP LaserJet
4L worked just fine using Me. Now, I cannot print anything using XP. I have
re-installed the printer, etc., but when I try to print, nothing happens. I
believe I have also searched HP's site for drivers etc.

Any ideas?

P.S. I am a computer dummy, so directions suited to a first graer would be
much appreciated.

Thanks.

No problem since this is an old one and well documented. Thanks for giving
the necessary information in your post.

RE: Printer won't print

Allan-

So the article is telling me to simply configure the LPT port to use EPP or
PS/2 printing (whatever that means :))? Is there anything else that I will
need to do following that?

Thanks for earlier quick reply.

Re: Printer won't print

Nothing else. Dell should have a BIOS upgrade that sets the port to this
mode but changing it manually works just as well.

Are you comfortable getting to the BIOS setting of the computer?

Alan-

Thank you so much for your help. It worked...and I am now out of the
spousal doghouse.
