I have a peer network at home. Laptop and desktop machines both running XP
pro and office XP. The desktop machine has a Canon Pixma iP4000 printer attached by USB, and offers out a share on the network. This has worked fine for a while, but recently, some parts of documents printed on the laptop are missing from the printed page. If I print these same documents from the desktop system, they come out perfectly. I have reloaded windows and office on the laptop, but no joy. Both machines have all the latest updates applied for both windows and office. I have also deleted the printer from the laptop and added it again, so the driver from the desktop machine is downloaded afresh onto the laptop. It's not always the same parts of the documents that go missing. This problem is affecting spreadsheets as well as word documents. |

Sounds like corrupted drivers... did you correctly uninstall and reinstall?

Hi,
Did that - more than once - but still a very unhappy printer. I followed the instructions closely. Tried both loading latest drivers locally and downloading from the other machine during adding printer. Different results in each case, but didn't work properly in either case. ARGH!!!!!!!!!! Any other ideas please? I guess that's a "no" then.

It appears to be the "smart" tags feature in Office XP (clearly a misnomer).
If I go and remove a date-related tag, half the text and all the graphics are lost from the printed page. That's it - no other action - just remove that single tag, and my print is even more wrecked than before. What now? how can I get rid of these things? This is driving me mad. I have probably destroyed half a forest printing pages with missing content. There must be an MVP or someone out there who can get a workaround for this. Help, PLEASE.
