During the New Year’s holidays, I wanted to try the Remote Desktop of WinXP. For safety and as asked, I created a PW for log on to my Desktop as Administrator. I noted it down as well as the hit of my PW in a notebook and shut down my Desktop. Two minutes later, after turning on my Desktop, I was denied to log on to Windows as Administrator by using my newly created Administrator PW. [The Error msg shows something like this: The system is unable to let you log on. Please ensure that your user name is correct… and enter your PW again. All PW are in cases sensitive.] Therefore, I was unable to conducting the Remote Desktop testing. Since then, I’m only allowed to log on to my Desktop Windows as a Guest with blank PW. And therefore, I’ve no right to make a System Restore to get out of this trouble. Before this incident, the Windows log on screen appeared at boot looks like this: Log on to Windows ----------------------------------------- Name: Administrator Password: ----------------------------------------- [Without a Welcome screen] I just pressed Enter to log on to Windows without entering any PW. But now, the log on screen at boot changed to this: Log on to Windows ---------------------------------------- Name: Guest Password: -------------------------------------- [Without a Welcome screen] I tried to boot my Desktop into Safe Mode by pressing F8, but I got the same log on windows as Guest, just as in Normal Mode. As my desktop got no [Welcome Screen] at boot, I was unable to try [Press: Ctrl+Alt+Del] twice to get back the Admin log on windows. In this situation, how could I log on to my Desktop as Administrator? I sincerely hope that any Expert can help to solve this Admin PW problem and thanks a lot in advance. mtik |

Did you try logging off of the Guest account, and using CTRL-ALT-DEL at the Welcome Screen? Alternatively, see http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/editor.html for a method for resetting the Administrator password.
